MARKET UNION INVOLVEMENT

Market union is an association of traders of a particular commodity w

Ho come together to promote their own objective.

Market unions perform two functions:

  1. Social function: they render financial help to members in the time of lack

and during important occasions

  1. Political function: they lobby the authorities to ensure adequate supply,

maintenance and provision of facilities at the traditional open market. They

also regulate and restrict the entry into their type of trade

 

IMPORTANCE OF MARKET UNIONS

  1. They fight for the rights of the members and of the group
  2. they demand for the quality production of goods
  3. they protest against unfavorable government policies
  4. they discipline erring members for violation of policies and regulations
  5. they enlighten the public on matters of common interest especially on

new laws regarding their industry

  1. They perform other legitimate and civilized functions
  2. They organize product exhibitions, workshops and symposiums for

public knowledge and enlightenment
