NOTE

HAND TOOLS AND TESTING INSTRUMENTS

Hand tools in basic electricity refer to manual tools used for various tasks in electrical work, such as installation, maintenance, and repair. Examples of hand tools:

I.) Screwdrivers: Used for driving screws into or out of electrical equipment and fixtures.

II.) Pliers: Used for gripping, bending, and cutting wires and cables.

III.) Wire Strippers: Used for removing insulation from wires to expose the conductor.

IV.) Wire Cutters: Used for cutting wires and cables to desired lengths.

V.) Wrenches: Used for tightening or loosening nuts and bolts on electrical connections.

VI.) Crimping Tools: Used for crimping terminals onto the ends of wires.

Uses of Hand Tools

I.)  Hand tools are used for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, components, and equipment.

II.) They are essential for tasks such as wiring, terminating connections, adjusting components, and troubleshooting electrical problems.

Testing Instruments

Testing instruments are devices used to measure, test, and diagnose electrical parameters, circuits, and components.

Types of Testing Instruments

I.) Multimeter: Measures voltage, current, resistance, and sometimes other parameters like capacitance and frequency.

II.) Clamp Meter: Measures current by clamping around a conductor without the need for physical contact.

III.) Continuity Tester: Checks for the continuity of a circuit by indicating whether a path exists for current flow.

IV.) Voltage Tester: Determines the presence or absence of voltage in a circuit or at a specific point.

V.) Insulation Tester: Measures the resistance of insulation to detect faults or breakdowns in electrical insulation.

Uses of Testing Instruments

I.) Testing instruments are used to verify proper functioning, diagnose faults, and measure electrical parameters in circuits and equipment.

II.) They help ensure electrical safety by detecting faults such as short circuits, open circuits, insulation breakdowns, and improper voltage levels.

III.) Testing instruments are essential for troubleshooting electrical problems, commissioning new installations, and conducting routine maintenance checks in electrical systems and equipment.

EVALUATION: 1. Define testing instruments

  1. State 3 uses of testing instruments
  2. What are hand tools?
  3. Mention 5 examples of hand tools

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the students positively
