SWIMMING II

Basic Skills in Swimming:

Breathing technique: Learn how to control your breathing while swimming, including exhaling underwater and taking a breath when turning your head to the side.

  1. Body position: Maintain a streamlined body position with your head in line with your spine and your hips and legs in alignment.
  2. Kicking: Practice a strong and efficient kick, using your whole leg and keeping your knees slightly bent.
  3. Arm strokes: Master the arm movements for each swimming stroke, such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.
  4. Floating: Learn how to float on your front and back to conserve energy and gain confidence in the water.
  5. Treading water: Develop the ability to tread water, which is essential for staying afloat in deep water and is a fundamental survival skill.

Safety Rules in Swimming:

  1. Never swim alone: Always swim with a buddy or under the supervision of a lifeguard to ensure help is available in case of an emergency.
  2. Check the depth of the water: Always check the depth of the water before diving or jumping in, and avoid diving into shallow water.
  3. Warm-up and stretch: Perform a proper warm-up and stretching routine before swimming to prevent injuries.
  4. Be aware of weather conditions: Avoid swimming during thunderstorms, high winds, or other hazardous weather conditions.
  5. Avoid swimming under the influence: Never swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as they can impair your judgment and coordination.
  6. Use safety equipment: Always use appropriate safety equipment, such as life jackets or buoyancy aids, especially if you're not a confident swimmer.
