A. Solomon’s Unwise Decision (I Kings 9:15-23, 11:1-13)

  • Solomon’s marriages to foreign women led him to idolatry.
  • God’s anger caused the kingdom to be divided after Solomon’s reign.
  • Consequences: Loss of unity, kingdom split into Israel and Judah.
    B. Rehoboam’s Unwise Decision (I Kings 12:1-20)
  • Rehoboam rejected the counsel of his father’s advisors and followed the advice of his peers.
  • This led to the division of Israel and the rise of Jeroboam as king of the northern tribes.
