CONSEQUENCES OF DISOBEDIENCE

  • Disobedient Prophet (I Kings 13:11–24): The prophet disobeyed God’s command and was killed by a lion as a result.
  • Sons of Eli (I Samuel 2:22–25, 4:10–11): Eli’s sons disrespected God’s offerings and led Israel into sin, which resulted in the loss of the ark and their death in battle.
  • Immediate vs. Delayed Consequences:
    • Immediate Consequences: Disobedience that results in immediate punishment, such as the death of the Disobedient Prophet.
    • Delayed Consequences: Disobedience with consequences that unfold over time, like the downfall of Eli’s family.
