LIVESTOCK RATIONS

Types of rations

The following are types of rationsfor livestock:

  2. Maintenance ration: A diet formulated to maintain the animal's body weight and condition without promoting growth or additional production. It typically provides the necessary nutrients to support basic metabolic functions and sustain the animal's current state.
  3. Production ration: A diet designed to support specific production goals, such as milk production in dairy cows, egg production in poultry, or weight gain in meat animals. This ration is formulated to provide optimal levels of nutrients to support increased production while maintaining overall health and performance.
