SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe how God provided for His people in the wilderness.
  2. Identify other biblical examples of God’s provision.
  3. Explain the importance of obedience in receiving God’s provision.
  4. Outline reasons God’s provision may cease.
  5. Discuss the basic needs of man and how God meets them.

STEP 1: Review

Asks recap questions on previous topic (Protection).

Respond, share experiences and prior knowledge.

STEP 2: Introduction

Asks: “What are basic things every person needs to survive?” Then introduces the topic.

Respond with ideas like food, shelter, water, etc.

STEP 3: Explanation

Explains:

a. God’s provision in the wilderness (Ex. 16–17; 13:20–22)

Reads selected passages, contribute to discussions, share personal views and ask questions.

 

b. Provision during famine: Elijah & the widow (1 Kings 17)

 

 

c. Obedience linked to provision (Gen. 22, Ex. 16, 1 Kings 17)

 

 

d. Reasons provision may stop (Josh. 5:11–12; 1 Kings 4:1–6)

 

 

e. God meets basic human needs.

Writes and explains summary points on the board.

Copy notes and highlight Bible references.

 

NOTE:
GOD’S PROVISIONS

  • Wilderness: Food (manna & quail), water from rock, light & cloud for direction.
  • Famine: Elijah and widow’s miraculous supply (1 Kings 17).
  • Obedience is key:
    • Abraham (Gen. 22)
    • Israelites (Ex. 16)
    • Widow (1 Kings 17)
  • Provision ceased:
    • When Israelites reached Promised Land (Josh. 5)
    • Due to disobedience (1 Kings 4)
  • Basic Needs: Food, water, clothing, shelter—met by God through grace and obedience.

 

EVALUATION:

  1. Mention two ways God provided for the Israelites.
  2. How did God provide for Elijah and the widow?
  3. Why is obedience key to provision?
  4. Give one reason God’s provision might stop.
  5. List the basic needs of man.

CLASSWORK: Same as evaluation
CONCLUSION: Teacher marks and comments on classwork, reinforces the lesson message, and ends with a prayer for God’s provision in learners’ lives.
