AIR TRANSPORTAION

This is the mode of transport that involves moving goods from one place to other in the air. Vehicles such as aeroplanes, jets and helicopters are used in air transportation

 

MERITS OF AIR TRANSPORTATION

  1. it is the fastest means of transportation
  2. it provides comfortable, quick and efficient services
  3. it does not require special infrastructure as in the case which requires the construction of railway tracks
  4. It can access areas where other means of transportation cannot
  5. it is free from physical barriers and natural obstacles such as mountains, hills etc

 

DEMERITS OF AIR TRANSPORTATION

  1. It is the most risky form of transportation
  2. it is the most expensive form of transportation thereby affecting the prices of goods
  3. it is not suitable for carrying bulky and large goods
  4. it is unreliable especially during strong weather conditions
  5. it requires huge cost to maintain and sustain
