NOTE
NERVOUS SYSTEM
The nervous system is a complex network of specialized cells, tissues, and organs that coordinates and controls the activities of the body. It serves as the body's communication and control center, allowing for the integration of sensory information, processing of signals, and generation of responses to maintain homeostasis and respond to changes in the internal and external environment.
Component Of The Nervous System
- Brain: The brain is the most complex organ in the body and plays a central role in controlling and coordinating various physiological functions. It is responsible for processing sensory information, initiating motor responses, regulating homeostasis, and supporting higher cognitive functions such as thinking, learning, memory, and emotion
- Spinal Cord: The spinal cord is a long, tubular structure that extends from the base of the brain down the vertebral column. It serves as a pathway for transmitting nerve signals between the brain and the rest of the body.
Functions of the Nervous System
1.It collects sensory input from sensory receptors and transmits this information to the brain for processing. This includes sensations like touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing.
EVALUATION: 1. Identify all the components of the nervous system and state their roles.
CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the students positively
