NOTE

TRIPLE JUMP

Triple jump is a track and field event in which athletes attempt to jump as far as possible by completing a hop, step, and jump sequence from a designated take-off board into a sandpit.

Equipment:

  1. Take-off board: A small, rectangular board located at the end of the runway, marking the point from which athletes must take off.
  2. Sandpit: A soft, sand-filled landing area where athletes attempt to land as far from the take-off board as possible.

Technique:

  1. Approach: Similar to long jump, athletes sprint down a runway to build up speed. However, for triple jump, the approach is generally slower to allow for better control during the hop, step, and jump sequence.
  2. Hop: The athlete lands on their dominant foot after the take-off, pushing off with their non-dominant foot to initiate the hop phase.
  3. Step: The athlete lands on their non-dominant foot for the step phase, pushing off with their dominant foot to transition into the final jump.
  4. Jump: The athlete lands on their dominant foot again and pushes off into the jump phase, attempting to maximize their horizontal distance by reaching forward with their arms and legs before landing in the sandpit.

Rules:

  1. Athletes must follow the correct sequence of movements (hop, step, and jump) without breaking their rhythm, or else the jump is considered a foul.
  2. Similar to long jump, the distance is measured from the closest point of the take-off board to the first mark made in the sandpit.

3 Athletes typically have three attempts to achieve their best distance, with the top performers advancing to subsequent rounds if applicable.

EVALUATION: 1. What is triple jump?

  1. Mention 4 techniques in triple jump
  2. Identify 3 rules of triple jump.

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the students positively
