POLITICAL PARTIES

Political parties are an organized group of people with similar interests

goals and ideology with the aim of winning and contesting for elections.

Some popular examples of political parties in Nigeria are

  1. Labour Party(LP)
  2. All Progressive Congress(APC)
  3. People’s Democratic Party(PDP)
  4. All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA)
  5. Young Progressive Party(YPP)
  6. Alliance for Democracy(AD) etc

 

APPROPRIATE WAYS POLITICAL PARTIES SOULD CONTEST FOR POWER

  1. Having and presenting a clear program of what they will do when elected

into office. It is called “manifesto”

  1. Influencing and general mobilization of people to work for the interest of

the party

  1. Educating the electorate on the proper behaviour before, during and

after elections

  1. Selecting eligible and credible candidates
  2. Carrying out campaigns in the sphere of location where the election is to

hold and for what position it is held
