SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  • Identify words associated with health
  • Use these words appropriately in different contexts related to health

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:

  • Flashcards with health-related vocabulary (sickly, well, condition, diagnoses, casualty, emergency, etc.)
  • Real-life case study examples

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

STEP 1: The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the topic of health-related vocabulary. The teacher emphasizes the importance of understanding the terminology in health contexts.
Learners listen, observe, and participate in the discussion.

STEP 2: The teacher introduces common health-related words such as sickly, well, condition, diagnoses, casualty, emergency, recovery, symptoms, and treatment. The teacher explains the meanings and usage of these words.
Learners observe and take notes on the new vocabulary.

STEP 3: The teacher uses real-life scenarios to show how these health-related words are applied. For example, “The doctor diagnosed the patient with a serious condition,” or “The casualty was rushed to the emergency room.”
Learners participate by creating their own sentences using the vocabulary.

STEP 4: The teacher presents a case study of a health scenario and asks the learners to identify and discuss the health-related vocabulary used in the case.
Learners analyze the case study and discuss the vocabulary used in context.

EVALUATION:

  • Define five words related to health.
  • Use three health-related words in sentences.
  • Complete the sentence: “The doctor was able to ______ the patient's condition after several tests.”
  • Match the health vocabulary with their definitions (e.g., well – in good health).

CLASS-WORK:

  • Write 5 sentences using the health-related vocabulary learned.
  • Discuss in pairs the difference between “sickly” and “well.”

ASSIGNMENT:

  • Write a short paragraph (6-8 sentences) about a health issue, using at least 5 vocabulary words learned during the lesson.

CONCLUSION:
The teacher marks students’ work, corrects errors, and encourages students to practice using health-related vocabulary in everyday situations.
