Review

The teacher reviews the previous topic on “God the Controller of the Universe.”

Introduction

The teacher writes the word “CREED” on the board and asks what it means. Links it to Christian beliefs.

The teacher explains:

a. Creed is from Latin “Credo” meaning “I Believe.”

b. The Apostles’ Creed summarises core Christian beliefs

c. Content includes belief in God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit

d. The Creed is Trinitarian in nature. The teacher breaks it down for understanding and assigns memory lines.

Learners listen, read, ask questions, and take turns reading the Creed aloud.

The teacher writes a simplified note and ensures all students copy it.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

A. Meaning of Creed

  • A creed is a statement of belief.
  • The Apostles’ Creed is one of the oldest Christian confessions.
  • “Credo” means “I believe” in Latin.

B. Content of the Apostles’ Creed

  • Belief in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth
  • Belief in Jesus Christ, His only Son, who was crucified, died, and rose again
  • Belief in the Holy Spirit
  • Belief in the holy catholic Church, communion of saints, forgiveness of sins, resurrection of the body, and life everlasting

C. Trinitarian Nature

  • Divided into three parts:
    • God the Father (Creator)
    • God the Son (Saviour)
    • God the Holy Spirit (Sanctifier)

D. Importance

  • It is recited in worship and used as a summary of faith
  • Helps Christians know what they believe and stand for
