INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES:
PERIOD 1:

  1. Introduction:
    • Revise the definition and structure of expository and narrative essays.
    • Discuss the differences between the two types of essays.
  2. Expository Essay:
    • Define the purpose of expository essays (to inform, explain, or describe a topic).
    • Discuss the structure of an expository essay: introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion.
    • Provide an example on the board (e.g., how to maintain good health).
  3. Narrative Essay:
    • Define the purpose of narrative essays (to tell a story).
    • Discuss the structure of a narrative essay: introduction, body (with events), and conclusion.
    • Provide an example of a narrative essay (e.g., a personal experience).

PERIOD 2:

  1. Teacher Modelling:
    • Write a sample introduction for both an expository and a narrative essay.
    • Show learners how to develop ideas logically and coherently.
  2. Writing Practice:
    • Ask learners to choose a topic for an expository essay (e.g., the importance of education).
    • Ask learners to write the introduction and first paragraph of a narrative essay (e.g., a memorable event).
