SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  • List the functions of the different human internal body systems

  • Diagrams of the human body systems
  • Flashcards with names of body systems
  • Models or pictures of organs

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

STEP 1: The teacher revises the previous lesson and introduces the topic of human internal body systems. The teacher explains the importance of understanding the functions of different body systems.
Learners listen, observe, and participate in the discussion.

STEP 2: Teacher introduces the major body systems such as the circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, nervous system, and excretory system. The teacher provides details on their functions.
Learners observe and participate in identifying the body systems and their functions.

STEP 3: The teacher gives examples of how the vocabulary can be used in sentences, e.g., “The circulatory system pumps blood throughout the body,” or “The digestive system breaks down food for nutrients.”
Learners make sentences using the vocabulary learned.

EVALUATION:

  • List the names of five human internal body systems.
  • Define the function of each of the mentioned systems.
  • Complete the sentence: “The ______ system is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body.”
  • Match the body systems with their functions.
  • Describe in your own words the role of the digestive system in the human body.

CLASS-WORK:

  • Write 5 sentences describing the functions of different body systems.
  • Label a diagram of the human body, pointing out the different body systems.

ASSIGNMENT:

  • Write a short paragraph (6-8 sentences) describing the functions of at least three human internal body systems.

CONCLUSION:
