NOTE

ISOMETRIC DRAWING 2

Construction of simple objects in isometric projection

To construct any object in isometric form requires first, the construction of the isometric axis. Secondly, the application of the principles of parallel lines to insert the various lines and parts that form the object.

The axis serves as the reference lines from where others are copied. And with the use of drawing tools and material, an object of desirable quality will result.

Procedure

Follow the steps given to draw an isometric sketch of an 8 × 3 × 3 cuboid. The same steps can be used to draw an isometric sketch of a cube also.

  1. Draw an isometric sketch of a cuboid with dimension 8 × 3 × 3
  2. Draw the front face, join 8 dots to form the length of the cuboid and 3 adjacent dots to form its breadth.
  3. From the corners of the rectangle, draw 4 parallel line segments.
  4. Join the corners of the image together
  5. According to the convention redraw the hidden edges as dotted lines

EVALUATION: 1. Draw an isometric sketch of a cube measuring 3x3x3.

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
