BALL GAMES: HOCKEY PRACTICAL
The objective of this practical session is to introduce students to the game of hockey and develop their basic skills, teamwork, and understanding of the rules.
Equipment:
Skill Development
- Dribbling: Players practice moving with the ball/puck using their hockey stick, focusing on keeping control while moving at various speeds.
- Passing and receiving: Players practice passing and receiving the ball/puck with a partner, emphasizing accuracy and control.
- Shooting: Players practice shooting at goalposts from different angles and distances, focusing on power and accuracy.
Game-Based Drills
3v3 or 4v4 small-sided games: Divide players into teams of 3 or 4 and play small-sided games to practice applying skills in a game-like situation.
Target practice: Set up targets or cones for players to hit with passes or shots, developing accuracy and precision.
Game Play
Organize a game between two teams with equal numbers of players. Encourage participants to apply the skills they practiced during the session and emphasize teamwork, communication, and fair play.
Cool Down
