WAREHOUSING DOCUMENTS I
Warehouse documents refer to the various forms, records, and paperwork used in the management and operation of a warehouse. These documents are essential for tracking inventory, recording transactions, facilitating communication, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
In warehousing, several documents are commonly used to facilitate various operations. Here are some of the key documents:
- Purchase Orders (PO): These are documents issued by a buyer to a seller, indicating types, quantities, and agreed prices for products or services.
- Goods Receipt Note (GRN): This document is used to confirm the receipt of goods from a supplier. It includes details such as the quantity received, condition of the goods, and any discrepancies noted during inspection.
- Warehouse Receipt (WR): A WR is issued by a warehouse to confirm the receipt of goods into storage. It serves as proof of ownership and can be used for inventory management and financial transactions.
- Stock Transfer Note (STN): When goods are moved from one warehouse location to another within the same company, a STN is used to record the transfer.
- Picking List: This document is generated to instruct warehouse staff on which items to pick from inventory to fulfill customer orders. It includes details such as item codes, quantities, and location information.
- Packing List: A packing list details the contents of each package or shipment, including item descriptions, quantities, and any special instructions for handling or packing.
- Delivery Note (DN): Also known as a dispatch note, this document accompanies goods being shipped to customers. It includes information such as the sender's and receiver's details, the contents of the shipment, and any special delivery instructions.
- Invoice: An invoice is issued by the seller to request payment from the buyer for goods or services provided. It includes details such as the agreed prices, quantities, payment terms, and any applicable taxes or discounts.
