General purpose application packages are designed to provide users with general set of facilities to handle a wide variety of problems.

Packages for specialized areas are based on the categories of application packages. These are:
Payroll programs e.g GUSTO, Paychex, SurePayroll, Paylocity etc
Education Management Software e.g Moodle, Google classroom, Lanschool, Edmodo etc
Accounting Software e.g Xero, Quickbooks, Netsuite, wave accounting, sage group etc
