CONSTITUTION

Constitution is the basic principles and laws of a nation, state, or social group that determine the powers and duties of the government and guarantee certain rights to the people in it

FUNCTIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION

  1. The constitution detects the powers of three arms of government
  2. It lays down the election system
  3. The constitution states the procedures for state creation
  4. Constitution empowers national assembly to enact international treaty into law
  5. It provides for federal character reflection in government’s composition.
  6. It provides the procedures for citizenship
  7. Constitution provides provision for renouncement of citizenship
  8. Constitution provides for fundamental rights of the citizens
  9. It protects the rights of the minority
