  2. Electronic Sewing Machine: These type of sewing machine features digital controls and an electric motor, offering a variety of stitches and settings accessible through buttons or a touchpad. It is suitable for more precise sewing tasks and intermediate projects, including various stitch patterns and some decorative stitching.
  3. Computerized Sewing Machine: These machines are equipped with a computer interface, programmable features, and an LCD screen for easy navigation of settings and stitch patterns.

 There are typically use for advanced sewing projects, including quilting, embroidery, and complex patterns. They offer a wide range of automatic functions such as needle threading, tension adjustment, and stitch memory.

  1. Embroidery Machine: These are machines specialized for embroidery, featuring a hoop to hold the fabric in place and a series of pre-programmed designs.

Embroidery machines are used for monograms, logos, intricate designs, and decorative stitching on garments, accessories, and home decor items.

There are use for small sewing projects, repairs, and alterations, suitable for beginners and those with limited space.

Functions of the sewing machine

A sewing machine performs various functions to facilitate the sewing process, enhancing efficiency and precision. The following are the primary functions:

  1. Stitching: The primary function is to create stitches, which can be straight, zigzag, or decorative.
  2. Seaming: Joining two or more layers of fabric together with a seam.
  3. Hemming: Folding the edge of the fabric and sewing it to prevent unraveling.
  4. Buttonholing: Creating precise buttonholes for buttons.
  5. Zipper Attachment: Installing zippers in garments or other items.
  6. Embroidery: Adding decorative stitching patterns to fabric.
  7. Quilting: Sewing together multiple layers of fabric, often with a pattern.
  8. Serging: Using an overlock machine to trim and finish fabric edges.
  9. Darning and Mending: Repairing holes or worn areas in fabric.
