EFFECTIVE PRAYERS

Prayer is a way of communicating with God. It is a personal and intimate to communion with God. It requires that was put all our hope, trust and faith in God. Prayer is very important for a Christian because it serves as a weapon of defence against the evil ones this is when Jesus advised his disciples to watch and pray and even taught how to pray.

Effective prayer is the prayer that yields result or that prayer that is answered

WHY DO WE PRAY

  1. To fellowship with God
  2. To praise Him
  3. To Present Our difficulties and needs to him
  4. It is the only weapon we have
  5. It is the only language that God understands better.

TYPES OF PRAYER (JAMES 5:13-18)

We have different types of prayer such as

  1. Prayer of praise and adoration (James 5:13) here people acknowledges God as the maker and controller of the universe by praising His different titles.
  2. Prayer of petition and intercession. (James 5:14) this is presenting a case to God and asking him to step in for you. For instance when someone is sick elders of the church will pray for him. That is intercession prayer
  3. Prayer of thanksgiving

This is thanking God for his goodness, favour and the grace given to us. Both the one we have received and the one to come.

  1. Prayer of confession (James 5:18) that is when people realise that they have sinned against God. They pray confess and determine that they abandoned such sin
  2. Prayer of dedication

This is when someone commits himself or his belonging to God to remain in his care, love him and salvation

STEPS FOR EFFECTIVE PRAYER

  1. Faith: Prayer with strong faith without doubting can move mountain or obstacle in our lives serious problems could be solved if we pray with faith
  2. Endurance: This is the act or power to bear some Christians prayers without receiving the answer to their prayer because they cannot wait and endure with patient
