STEPS

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY

LEARNERS ACTIVITY

1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher reviews the previous lesson and introduces the new topic by writing examples on the board like: “Many students attended the seminar.” “Each boy received a prize.” She then explains that words like many, each, some, few are called determiners because they introduce or modify nouns.

Learners observe, listen attentively, and ask questions for clarity.

2

EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION / TEACHER MODELLING

The teacher defines determiners: Determiners are words placed in front of nouns to make it clear what the noun refers to. She then categorizes them into types:

Quantifiers (e.g. many, some, few, much, little)

Distributives (e.g. each, every)

Articles (e.g. a, an, the)

Demonstratives (e.g. this, that)

Possessives (e.g. my, your, our)

Others (e.g. any, all)

She gives example sentences for each category.

Learners take notes, ask questions, and give their own examples based on teacher's model.

3

EVALUATION

The teacher writes several sentences on the board and asks learners to identify the determiners.

Examples:

1.   Any committee member can raise a motion.
