NOTE

RACKET GAMES: BADMINTON PRACTICAL

In this practical session, the teacher should teach the students the fundamentals of badminton, including grip, stance, footwork, and basic shots.

  1. Equipment: Before starting, ensure you have a badminton racket, a shuttlecock, a net, and comfortable clothing and shoes.
  2. Warm-up: Begin with a 5-10 minute warm-up that includes light jogging, stretching, and arm swings.
  3. Grip: Hold the racket using the correct grip. For forehand strokes, use the forehand grip, and for backhand strokes, use the backhand grip.
  4. Stance: Stand in the ready position with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and your weight on the balls of your feet. Keep your racket up and in front of your body.
  5. Footwork: Move around the court using quick, short steps, keeping your feet close to the ground. Use a scissor kick motion to move sideways or backwards.
  6. Serving: Hold the shuttlecock with the feathers facing down and hit it underhand into your opponent's court.
  7. Clear: Hit the shuttlecock high and deep into your opponent's court to force them away from the net.
  8. Smash: Jump and hit the shuttlecock powerfully downwards, aiming to hit the ground or near your opponent's feet.
  9. Drive: Hit the shuttlecock flat and fast, keeping it just above the net and aiming for the corners of the court.
  10. Cool-down: End the session with a cool-down, including stretching exercises and a slow jog.
