HAND TOOLS/MAINTENANCE I

Hand tools are manual devices or implements operated by hand to perform various tasks in fields such as construction, woodworking, metalworking, and automotive repair. They are essential for tasks that require precision, control, and flexibility. Here are some common types of hand tools categorized based on their functions:

1. Marking and Measuring Tools: Marking and measuring tools are instruments used in various field to accurately measure and mark materials. Examples include rulers, tape measures, calipers, squares, and protractors. They help ensure precision in cutting, shaping, and assembling materials by providing accurate measurements and guidelines.

2. Cutting and Boring Tools: Cutting tools are specialized tools used in workshops for cutting and shaping materials like wood, metal, or plastic. Examples include saws, drills, lathe tools, chisels, hand drills etc.

3. Bench and Holding Tools: Bench and holding tools are devices used in workshops to secure workpieces in place during various tasks like cutting, drilling, or shaping. Examples include clamps, vises, workbenches, bench dog and holding fixtures. They help stabilize materials and keep them steady, making it easier for craftsmen to work on them safely and accurately.

5. Gripping and Holding Tools: Gripping or holding tools are devices designed to grasp or hold objects securely. Examples include; Gripping pliers (vice grips, locking pliers), Clamping tools (spring clamps, bar clamps),  Tongs and C-clamps

 

6. Striking Tools: Striking tools are implements used to deliver force to another object, typically through impact. Examples include hammers, mallets, and sledgehammers. They're used in tasks like driving nails, breaking objects apart, or shaping materials by striking them with force.
