NOTE

PLANE GEOMETRY: DIVISION OF LINES INTO A GIVEN NUMBER OF EQUAL PARTS OR PROPORTIONS

Dividing a Line into Equal Parts:

  1. Using a ruler, begin by drawing the given line AB that needs to be divided into equal segments.
  2. Select any convenient acute angle relative to line AB, and draw line AC extending to a length of your choice.
  3. Starting from point A, proceed to divide line AC into the desired number of equal segments, labeling each division point sequentially as 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on.
  4. Connect the final point on line AC to point B by drawing a straight line segment.
  5. Employing a 30°/60° set-square and utilizing a Tee-square for alignment, draw lines from each labeled point (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) parallel to the line drawn in step (iv) previously.

Dividing a Line to a Given Proportion:

  1. Begin by drawing the specified straight line AB.
  2. Select any convenient acute angle in relation to line AB, and draw line AC to a suitable length.
  3. Assuming the line is to be divided according to the ratio 3:6:2, position the compass pin at point A and set it to any convenient radius. Proceed to mark off 11 equal segments on line AC (since 3 + 6 + 2 = 11).
  4. Connect the last point (the 11th point in this scenario) on line AC to point B.
  5. Using straight lines parallel to line 11B drawn in step 4, join point 9 (representing 3 + 6 = 9) to line AB, and then connect point 3 (indicating 0 + 3 = 3) to line AB. This process effectively divides line AB proportionally into segments according to the specified ratio of 3:6:2.

EVALUATION: 1. Draw a given line 10 cm long and divide it into a ration of 2:4:3
