SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:

  • Define the meaning of fishing.
  • Identify vocabulary associated with fishing (e.g., hook, fish trap, fish pond, fishing season).

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Discussion, demonstration, group activities
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Diagrams, charts, flashcards, possible visit to a fish farm
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES:

STEP 1: The teacher explains the meaning of fishing and its importance as a livelihood and recreational activity.

  • Learners observe and listen to the teacher’s explanation.

 

STEP 2: The teacher uses diagrams and charts to introduce vocabulary associated with fishing (e.g., fish trap, line and sinker, fish pond). The teacher makes sentences with each of the terms.

  • Learners identify words associated with fishing, making sentences with each vocabulary word.

 

STEP 3: Teacher explains selected fishing-related words, such as fishing season and fish equipment, and shows real-life examples or pictures.

  • Learners tell the meaning of selected words and create sentences using them.

 

EVALUATION:

  • Define vocabulary associated with fishing (e.g., hook, fish pond, fishing season).
  • Match the vocabulary with their definitions (e.g., fish trap - a tool for catching fish).
  • Complete this sentence: “The ______ is used to catch fish in a fish pond.”
  • List 3 types of fishing equipment and their uses.

  • Write 10 sentences using 5 of the vocabulary words learned in class.
  • Create a diagram of a fishing setup with labels (e.g., hook, line, sinker).

ASSIGNMENT:

  • Write a brief report on the fishing industry in your region and identify the equipment used.
  • Describe the fishing season in your country and its impact on local fishermen.

CONCLUSION:
