The teacher explains the function of each demonstrative pronoun:

  • This is used for something close in singular form.
  • These is used for things close in plural form.
  • That is used for something far in singular form.
  • Those is used for things far in plural form.

 

The teacher provides examples: This is my book. Those are my books.

Learners listen and take notes, asking for further clarification where needed.

GUIDED PRACTICE

  • The teacher provides sentences for the learners to fill in the blanks with the correct demonstrative pronoun:
  • ______ is my pencil.
  • ______ are the students I mentioned.
  • I can’t find ______ (my keys).

 

The teacher guides the learners as they work.

Learners complete the exercises, and the teacher discusses the answers with the class.

STUDENT ACTIVITY

The teacher divides the learners into small groups and asks them to create five sentences using demonstrative pronouns. Each group shares their sentences with the class.
