CIVIC EDUCATION

Civic education is a subject that teaches and educates the Nigerian youths

about their political, economic and social rights in order to become good

followers and responsible future leaders

 

OBJECTIVES OF CIVIC EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS

  1. To emphasize the instructions of government, its functions and

responsibilities to the people and vice versa

  1. To promote inter-relationship between man and woman and vice versa

and governments and the society

  1. To assist the student in acquiring knowledge, attitudes, values and basic

skills to become responsible and disciplined citizens

  1. To educate the youths on their rights
  2. To prepare students for leadership roles
  3. To promote good followership among Nigerian youths

 

OBJECTIVES OF CIVIC EDUCATION IN NATION BUILDING

  1. To promote National Unity, Integration and Consciousness
  2. It enables the student to understand the government and as a result take

part in the decision moving process of the country

  1. It moves the citizen to be particular in politics and socio-economic

activities of the country

  1. it reminds the students that democracy is the best form of government

and by this, citizens are able to form pillars of democracy across the nation
