CONTENT : Sound patterns ‘ck’ and ‘qu’

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to;

a Recognize, read and spell the ‘ck’ and ‘qu’ sounds

ENTRY BEHAVIOR : Pupils can identify all alphabets letters and long and short vowel sounds

SET INDUCTION : The teachers uses the phonics songs 'We are clicking castanets' to arouse the interest of the pupils

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES : Discussion, group activities,

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS : Flash cards, phonics sound chart, audiovisual clips of the phonics sound/song, pictures of objects with the 'ck'and ‘qu’ sound

- Explains that the sound ‘ck’ takes the sound ‘c’ and sometimes ‘k’

- Gives a list of word with the ‘ck’ sound

GUIDED PRACTICE

- Shows the pupils clue cards with the ‘ck’ in front and a clue word at the back. Have them say the clue word then sound ‘ck’ it represents e.g tick(ck)-

 

-Shows the children several images of words containing the ‘ck’ sound and asks them to pronounce it aloud
