SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  1. Create a list of processed goods and materials used in packaging them
  2. Justify the importance of packaging goods
  3. Mention the different types of home cleaning
  4. List the different areas in the home and describe how to clean them

Meaning of packaged food

Packaged food means food that has its entire surface covered in order to prevent direct contact of the food with the environment, either by permeable or impermeable wrapping.

 

Importance of packaging processed food

1. Protects the Food from Contamination

2. Improves the Shelf Life of the Product

3. Protects Food from Physical Damage

4. Maintains the Freshness of the Food Items

5. Helps Prevent Tampering

Living room

Daily

1. Grab your cleaning tools, materials and agents

2. Open the windows and doors for fresh ventilation and the letting out of stale air

3. Declutter and arrange furniture and home appliances.  

4. Vacuum or sweep.

5. Spot clean floors.  

6. Spot clean glass surfaces.

 

Weekly

1. Sweep or vacuum floors depending on the surface.

2.  Dust and wipe down all surfaces, including shelves and artwork.

3. Dust blinds and light fixtures.

4. Vacuum under couch cushions.

5. Sanitize light switches and doorknobs.

6. Sanitize TV remote

 

Bedroom

1. Open the windows and doors

2. Take Out Trash.

3. Pick Up Dirty Clothes.  

4. Put Away Clean Clothes.

5. Strip Your Bed.  

6. Clear Surface Clutter.

6. Empty garbage can.

7. Spot clean carpet stains if needed

8. Spot clean throw pillows and comforter stains if needed

9. Sanitize door handles and light switches

1. Empty the dishwasher and dish drainer, as necessary.

2. Wash dirty dishes as they happen.

3. Wipe spills from counters, floors, and appliances.

4. Clean counters.

5. Sweep floor.

6. Run the dishwasher, as necessary.

7. Wash out the sink.

8. Set out a clean rag for the next day.

1. Take inventory of leftovers. Conduct the faithful sniff test.  

2. Clean outside of appliances.  

3. Clean the inside of the microwave.

4. Disinfect sink and faucets.

5. Sanitize sponges.  

6. Mop floors.

7. Launder dish towels.

8. Deep clean the sink.

9. Spot clean cabinets to remove smudges.

1. Sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of baking soda in the toilet overnight, and flush it in the morning. This helps deodorize the toilet and keep it cleaner.

 

2. If you notice a ring building up, give the toilet bowl a quick 10 second scrub in the morning and flush.
