The teacher revises the previous lesson Topic On Military rule in Nigeria.

She then explains that Gen Olusegun Matthew Obasanjo was born on 5th March 1937 at Abeokuta. He was a General in Nigeria army. He was chief of staff in Muritala’s administration. On the death of Gen. Muritala, the mantle of leadership fell on Gen Obasanjo as his second in command.

She describes the Reformation and Developmental Project Gen Olusegun embarked on.

1. Port decongestion- he constructed new ports one which was the Tin can Island port which was transformed from rubbish dump into a major port to help solve the problem of port decongestion.

2. Fight against corruption- He established a permanent corrupt practices bureau and public complaints commission to handle against public servants.

3. Improvement of Transportation and telecommunication sectors of Nigeria.

4. Agricultural Improvement- He launched operation feed the Nation to address issue of food shortage in Nigeria

5. Local Government Reform- Obasanjo reign reformed the local government administration in Nigeria. This reformation made the local  government administration in the country more democratic, purposeful and functional.

Biography of Gen Olusegun Obasanjo
