STEP 3 DEMONSTRATION | She describes the history of Gen. Yakubu Gowon. Gen. Yakubu Gowon was born in 19 Oct 1934 in Kanke in plateau. He is a Nigerian Military leader who served as the head of state of Nigeria from 1966- 1975. He ruled Nigeria during the deadly Nigerian civil war which resulted in the death of about 3 million people mostly civilians. He took over power on 1st Aug 1966. He abolished the four regional state of Nigeria and created 12 states out of the four regions in May 1967. He appointed 12 ,military governors for each of the 12 states. | Pupils pay attention and participate |
