She then explains The Periods of Civil Rule In Nigeria.

Periods of civil rule in Nigeria were the periods when democratically elected civilian leaders ruled Nigeria under the constitutional guide lines.

Nigeria gained independence in 1960, but she was still ruled with the British laws till 1963. Though an independent nation yet Nigeria was still under British laws until 1963. The 3 years was when Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe was the Governor General of Nigeria. First Republic Democratic rule in Nigeria started in 1963.

1963-1966- Sir Abubakar Tafewa Balewa(3 years)

1979-1983- Alhaji Shehu Shagari( A period of 4 years)

1999- 2007- President Olusegun Obasanjo( A period of 8 years)

2007- 2010- President Musa Yaradua( A period of 2 years)

2011-2015- President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan( A period of 6 years).

2015- till date- President Muhammadu Buhari.

Elected civilians have ruled Nigeria for 28 years.
