SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  1. Explain the meaning of bondage
  2. Explain how the Israelites became captives of Egypt
  3. Explain the things the Israelites suffered in the hands of the Egyptian

Instructional Materials:  toys, picture book showing the Israelites being forced to work.

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The Teacher introduces bondage as a state of being owned by a person, as a piece of property. It is a state of being a slave.

EXPLANATION

She explains how the Israelites came into slavery by the Israelites and how they maltreated and forces to hard labors by the Egyptians

Demonstration

She explains that because of the famine in Canaan, Israel (Jacob) and his children went down to Egypt. Seventy souls made up of Jacob, his sons and grandsons along with their wives and daughters came to Egypt. As the Egyptians continued to multiply, the Egyptians were offended. After the death of Joseph, there was a new pharaoh in Egypt who never knew Joseph and was probably not instereted in the historical account of events that took place in the time of Joseph. He started to Oppress the Israelites

NOTE

REASONS WHY THE ISREALITES WAS OPPRESSED

  1. The Egyptian wanted to stop them from multiplying and thereby weaken them
  2. They wanted to prevent them from growing to a point whereby they could get freedom and leave Egypt
  3. They were afraid that the Israelites will join their enemies to fight them and drive them out of their empire.

Evaluation:          1. Narrate how the Israelites became captives to the Egyptians

  1. State 3 reasons why the Israelites was oppressed
