Social background in a literary text simply means

is a set of events invented around people(either relatives or non-relatives) for a plot, presented as preceding and leading up to that plot

2 The Secret Lives of Baba Segi's Wives by Lola Shoneyin

Resolution is the way the conflict is handled.

 

Functions

1. It is used in literary works to conclude the story in a satisfying manner that leaves the reader feeling fulfilled with the novel.

 

2. It is the part of the plot ties together all the loose ends of the stories, and the reader will learn what happens to the main characters
