Living things and non-living things + Creativity rhythmic + Introduction to artificial intelligence
Term: 1st Term
Week: 1
Class: Primary 6
Age: 11 years
Duration: 40 minutes of 3 periods
Date:
Subject: Basic Science and Technology
Topic:- Living things and non-living things
- Creativity rhythmic
- Introduction to artificial intelligence
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration, videos from source
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: computer system, projector, sound system, chart of animals, potted flower, dancing costumes, music
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
PERIOD 1: Living things and non-living things
PRESENTATION | TEACHER’S ACTIVITY | PUPIL’S ACTIVITY |
STEP 1 INTRODUCTION | The teacher revises the previous lesson on excretory system | Pupils pay attention |
STEP 2 EXPLANATION | She explains the meaning of living things and their characteristics Living things have a variety of characteristics that are displayed to different degrees: they respire, move, respond to stimuli, reproduce and grow, and are dependent on their environment.
| Pupils pay attention and participates |
STEP 3 DEMONSTRATION | She explains the meaning of non-living things and their characteristics Non-living things are those lacking the characteristics of life. Based on that definition, non-living things include rock, water, sand, glass, and sun. None of them shows the characteristics of being alive. | Pupils pay attention and participate |
STEP 4 NOTE TAKING | The teacher writes a short note on the board | The pupils copy the note in their books |
NOTE
Living things and their characteristics
Living things have a variety of characteristics that are displayed to different degrees: they respire, move, respond to stimuli, reproduce and grow, and are dependent on their environment. Examples are plants, animals and human beings
Non-living things and their characteristics
Non-living things are those lacking the characteristics of life. Based on that definition, non-living things include rock, water, sand, glass, and sun. None of them shows the characteristics of being alive.
EVALUATION: 1. Explain the meaning of living things and state their characteristics. Give three examples
CLASSWORK: As in evaluation
CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively
PERIOD 2 and 3: Communicable and non-communicable diseases. Python
PRESENTATION | TEACHEIR’S ACTIVITY | PUPIL’S ACTIVITY |
STEP 1 INTRODUCTION | The teacher revisits the previous lesson an introduces the new topic by explaining what rhythmic activities are Rhythmic activities are combinations of physical movements with sounds, beats, or music. | Pupils pay attention |
STEP 2 EXPLANATION | The teacher enumerates examples of rhythmic activities 1. hopping 2. singing 3. dancing 4. marching 5. skipping 6. galloping 7. sliding 8. leaping 9. jumping etc
| Pupils pay attention and participates |
STEP 3 DEMONSTRATION | The teacher explains the meaning of and importance of artificial intelligence Artificial intelligence is the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. Specific applications of AI include expert systems, natural language processing, speech recognition and machine vision. Importance of Artificial Intelligence Reduction in Human Error 1. We can overcome many risky limitations of humans by developing an AI Robot which in turn can do the risky things for us. 2. AI can work 24x7 without any breaks and they don’t even get bored, unlike humans. 3. Using artificial intelligence we can productively automate repetitive tasks 4. Introduction of digital assistants to interact with users which saves the need for human resources. 5. Using AI alongside other technologies we can make machines take decisions faster than a human and carry out actions quicker. 6. AI is powering many inventions in almost every domain which will help humans solve the majority of complex problems. | Pupils pay attention and participate |
STEP 4 NOTE TAKING | The teacher writes a short note on the board | The pupils copy the note in their books |
NOTE
Rhythmic activities are combinations of physical movements with sounds,
beats, or music.
