She then explains Traditional Occupation Of The Yoruba People.

1. Farming: This has been Traditional and an important occupation of the Yoruba people. The Yoruba people have been very effective in participating in agriculture. They grow crop like: Cocoa, Kolanut, Plantain, Citrus, Yams, Coconut, etc.

2. Cloth Making: Traditionally, the Yoruba were known for weaving and dyeing of a type of cloth known as Ashoke. After weaving Ashoke, the males make their dress called Shokoto with it while the females make form it there dress called Buba.

3. Art and Craft: The Yoruba’s are responsible for carvings such as Ifa trays, bowels, Ancestral masks, Yoruba Agene Ifa, Ritual bowl, etc.

4. Palm wine Tapping: This is a profession in all of southern Nigeria because they grow a lot of palm trees. Palm wine is gotten from palm tree through the process of tapping.

5. Drumming: The drum used by the Yorubas is referred to as Sakura. Omele is the shallow drum with a circular body with goat or cow skin. This drum is commonly referred to as talking drum because they can mimic the sound of human speech.

She Explains Traditional Occupation of the Igbo People.

1. Farming: Igbo were traditionally farmers, they cultivated crop for feeding as well as cash crop for sales to make money. They are known for the cultivation and growing of Palm, Plantain, Yam, Rice, Cassava, and Cocoyam.

2. Wine Tapping: This is the tapping of palm tree to obtain the white sap called palm wine. It is an occupation common to the Igbo people.

3. Trading: This is one of the common professions of the Igbo people, they are involved in selling and buying of product. They travel far and near selling produces from their region.

4. Metal work( Blacksmithing): The Igbo people were famous for blacksmithing work, the fabricated objects with iron, brass and copper. Like hoe, spoon, knives, sword, spear, etc.

5. Cloth Making: The Igbo’s produced a popular clothing material called Akwete which was produced by the Akwete people. Akwete cloth is a unique hand woven fabric by Igbo women of Akwete in Abia state Nigeria.
