INTRODUCTION OF TOPIC

The teacher revises the previous Topic On Islam In Nigeria.

EXPLANATION

She then explains the Origin Of Christianity In Nigeria.

Christianity came into Nigeria in 1838 following the return of the Christian slaves after the abolition of slave trade. Christianity was introduced into Nigeria in the 15th century by monks from Portugal. The Portuguese missionaries left Nigeria without establishing a church. It was later in1842 that the Church of England established a church in Badagry. This Church was established by Henry Townsend of Anglican Mission. In Badagry, the Church built the first storey building in Nigeria.
