STEP 2 EXPLANATION | She explains the biography Of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was a Nigerian state man. He was born on 16th Nov 1904 in Zungeru in present day Niger state. He hailed from Onitsha Anambra State. He was considered a driving force behind the nation’s independence. Zik as he was popularly known came to become the father of Nigerian Nationalism. He was the founder of a political party called the NCNC in 1944. He was also the founder of a newspaper called the west African Pilot which was an effective instrument in the fight against the British colonial rule. He was the only black Governor General of Nigeria from 1960- 1963. He was also the first president of Nigeria from 1963-1966. He was the foremost Nigerian and West African nationalist. He died on 11th May 1996 at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku and was buried at Onitsha his home ground. THE NATIONALIST ACTIVITIES OF Dr. NNAMDI AZIKIWE 1. Biography Of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
