SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  • Define weaving
  • State types of weaving
  • Weave a mat with strips of paper using plain weave

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: The Teacher uses Cardboard, paper, photograph, charts, yarn, twill, loom, slides

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC

The teacher introduces weaving as the uses of strips of materials to form patterns on traditional  fabric

EXPLANATION

She explains the products of weaving, types and how to use paper strips to weave a mat

DEMONSTRATION

She display sample of weave objects or chart showing some of the products of weaving to the pupils and teach the pupils how to weave a mat using a paper strips

The teacher writes on the board while the pupils copy the note

NOTE

TYPES OF WEAVING

  1. Vertical Weaving- is used by women weavers. This type of weaving loom is vertical and upright
  2. Horizontal Weaving- is used by men weavers for traditional fabric weaving

EVALUATION: 1) Identify weaving objects in the classroom and  Home

  • Explain the meaning of weaving
