INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES

PERIOD 1: Reproduction in plants

PRESENTATION

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY

PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on environmental quality

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher describes the parts of a flower

Most flowers have four main parts: sepals, petals, stamens, and carpels. The stamens are the male part whereas the carpels are the female part of the flower.

She also explains the meaning of pollination

Pollination is the act of transferring pollen grains from the male anther of a flower to the female stigma

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She further outlines the agents and types of pollination

Pollinators can be abiotic, i.e. nonliving or biotic, i.e. living.

Abiotic pollinators are wind and water. Water is usually used only for few aquatic plants like seagrasses.

Biotic pollinators refer to various animal species (Mammals, Reptiles, Birds, and Insects)

She also highlights the process of pollination

1.   After pollen has landed on the stigma, it grows a pollen tube down through the style to the ovary.

2.   The nucleus of the pollen grain travels down the pollen tube and fertilises the nucleus in the ovule.

3.   The fertilised ovule develops into a seed

Pupils pay attention and participate

STEP 4

NOTE TAKING

The teacher writes a short note on the board

The pupils copy the note in their books

EVALUATION:    1. List the parts of the flower

  1. Define Pollination
  2. Describe using examples the agents of pollination
  3. Describe the step by step process of pollination

CLASSWORK: As in evaluation

CONCLUSION: The teacher commends the pupils positively

PERIOD 2 AND 3: Hockey. Search engine

PRESENTATION

TEACHEIR’S ACTIVITY

PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revisits the previous lesson on basketball

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher introduces the new topic and making the pupils to formulate the meaning of hockey by watching video clips on hockey and its history

The teacher then explains that

Hockey is a kind of invasion game that is played by two teams of eleven players. Each team's goal is to push a small and heavy hockey ball into their opposition's goal.

She explains and demonstrates the basic skills in hockey

1. skating

2. stickhandling

3. passing

4. shooting

Safety rules in hockey

  1. Check safety gear and equipment regularly for wear and tear, and to ensure it is in good condition.
  2. Purchase a foam-lined helmet specially designed for ice hockey.
  3. The helmet should fit snugly.
  4. A full face mask can protect your face and eyes.
  5.  Use a mouth guard.

6.   Shoulder, chest, elbow, leg, knee and shin pads, as well as padded gloves, should be worn. Groin protection is advised.

7.   Ice skates should fit and provide ankle protection. Ice skates that are too large – or too small – can be dangerous.

8.   Remember the “chin rule ” when buying a hockey stick. With ice skates on and the stick resting on the end of its blade, the butt of the stick should come to three inches below your chin.

9.   Goalies need special protective gear to stop high-speed slap shots.

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She explains the meaning and types of search engine

A search engine is a software program that helps people find the information they are looking for online using keywords or phrases. Search engines are able to return results quickly—even with millions of websites online—by scanning the Internet continuously and indexing every page they find

Types of search engine

  • Google.
  • Bing.
  • Yahoo!
  • Baidu.
  • DuckDuckGo
