PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the previous lesson on erosion

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

She explains the meaning of land and noise pollution

Land pollution is what we call things that hurt our land. When our waste products get scattered on the land, this causes pollution.

Noise pollution are unwanted or disturbing sound in the environment that affects the health and well-being of humans and other living organisms

She then lists the types and effects of land pollution an noise pollution

Types of Land pollution

  1. Agricultural Land Pollution. We use a lot of fertilizers as well as pesticides, fungicides, and insecticides on our agricultural land in a bid to maximize yields.
  2. Non-biodegradable Solid Waste.
  3. Industrial Waste.
  4. Deforestation.
  5. Mining.

 Effects of land pollution

  1. Toxic substances may leech into the soil and cause contamination.
  2. Water bodies get contaminated as well.
  3. Increased risk of wildfires.
  4. Topsoil gets lost.
  5. May cause birth defects if exposed to contamination.
  6. Can negatively affect the quality of life and also health.

Types of Noise Pollution

Primarily there are two main reasons for Sound Pollution that can occur. They are:

1.   Man-Made Noise Pollution – These include a wide range of noise disruption that occurs as a result of man-made noise like, vehicles, honking, Air traffic, construction, fights, loud music, and various other household noises.

2.   Environmental Noise Pollution – These are noise emitted as a result of environmental issues like Earthquakes, thunderstorms, Volcanic eruptions, howling of animals, etc.

EFFECTS OF NOISE POLLUTION
1. Respiratory agitation

2. racing pulse

3. high blood pressure

4. headaches

5. in case of extremely loud, constant noise, gastritis, colitis and even heart attacks

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She further discusses how to prevent and control land pollution and noise pollution

Land pollution

1.   Reducing Chemical Fertilizers and Pesticides. Plants require soil nutrients such as nitrogen, calcium and phosphorous for growth and development.

2.   Reforesting. Forests and grassland vegetation bind soil to keep it intact and healthy.

3.   Solid Waste Treatment.

4.   Recovering and Recycling Material.

Noise pollution

1.   Turn off Appliances at Home and offices. ...

2.   Shut the Door when using noisy Machines. ...

3.   Use Earplugs. ...

4.   Lower the volume. ...

5.   Stay away from Noisy area. ...

6.   Follow the Limits of Noise level. ...

7.   Control Noise level near sensitive areas. ...

8.   Go Green by planning trees.

Pupils pay attention and participate

STEP 4

NOTE TAKING

The teacher writes a short note on the board

The pupils copy the note in their books

PERIOD 2 AND 3: High jump, Networking

PRESENTATION

TEACHEIR’S ACTIVITY

PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revisits the previous lesson on long jump

Pupils pay attention

STEP 2

EXPLANATION

The teacher explains what high jump is

High jump is an athletic event in which a competitor has to jump over a high bar set between two vertical supports.

The teacher further explains the phases in high jump

1. The approach or run-up

2. The take-off

3. The flight

4. The landing

5. The recovery

Pupils pay attention and participates

STEP 3

DEMONSTRATION

She explains the meaning of networking

computer networking, is the practice of transporting and exchanging data between nodes over a shared medium in an information system

She lists the various types of computer networking

  1. Personal area network (pan)
  2. Local area network (LAN)
  3. Wireless local area network (WLAN)
  4. Metropolitan area network (man)
  5. Wide area network (wan)
  6. Storage area network (san)
  7. Virtual private network (VPN)

She further states the use of computer networks

  1. Communication. Everything, from the world wide web to online banking to multiplayer computer games, depends on the ability of computers to communicate.
  2. Accessing resources.
  3. Centralisation of data.
  4. Transfer of files.
