          The First Expedition of the British.

After the Abolishment of slave trade by the British parliament in 1807, the European had to search for new ways to sustain their country hence, began the era of Africa Exploitation. In 1794, the British expedition explores the settlements of Nigeria.

Reasons for the Expedition

  1. TO prevent slave trade
  2. To acquire Land
  3. To get Resources which they can import into the their country
  4. To create relations with tribe and other rural settlements

Why it failed

  1. There is the issue of Language barrier
  2. Illness like Malaria caused the death of many Europeans.
  3. Delay in communication from their country to Africa
