She then explains the meaning of  historical sites and features

 

Historical sites and features are places that are deemed as culturally and historically important

Pupils pay attention and participate

DEMONSTRATION

She then lists some Historical sites where evidence of human activities can be found

1. Burial sites e.g Oduduwa Grove where the Oduduwa landed via a chain found in Ile-Ife as well as his resting place

2. Religious places e.g Shitta-Bey mosque, Lagos(the first Mosque in Nigeria, built from 1891-1894)

the Cathedral church of St Peter, Abeokuta(completed in 1898)

3. Museums e.g

National Museum, Benin city

4. Cultural centres e.g Tafawa Balewa Square

5. Markets e.g Kurmi Market, Kano

6. Shrine e.g Osun-Oshogbo Grove

 

Some historical places in Nigeria include

1. Three white chiefs- and art statue of three Lagos white-cap chiefs. It is located in Lagos.

2. Kano city wall- built during the reign on King Kijimazu from 1095-1135 AD to prevent enemy attack

3. Erin-Ijesha/Olumirin waterfall- it is located in Osun state and discovered by Akinla, a granddaughter of Oduduwa

4. the wall of Benin

5. The royal palace of the Oba of Benin

6. The Lugard footbridge located in Kaduna state

7. Queen Amina’s wall located in Zaria, Kaduna state

8. Dalla hill in Kano state, Nigeria. It has 999 footsteps

9. Obudu Cattle ranch in Cross river state
