SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to;

Recognize, read and spell the ‘ery’ and ‘ory’ graphemes

ENTRY BEHAVIOR: Pupils can identify and recite all the letters of the alphabets and the vowels

SET INDUCTION: The teachers uses the ‘Bossy R’ song to arouse the pupils’ interest

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Discussion, group activities, songs

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Objects with the ‘ery’ and ‘ory’ grapheme, chart showing objects with the ‘ery’ and ‘ory’ grapheme sound, white board, dry erase marker, clue cards

PERIOD 1 AND 2: Recognition, spelling and reading the ‘ery’ graphemes

3	GUIDED PRACTICE	- Shows the pupils clue cards with the grapheme in front and a clue word at the back. Have them say the clue word then sound the grapheme it represents e.g celery(ery) - Shows the children several images of words containing the grapheme ‘ery’ and asks them to pronounce it aloud	Pupils listen, observe and participate
4	INDEPENDENT WORKING TIME	- Gives the pupils exercises on the ‘ery’ sound Write the words in the bracket beside their meanings below (artery, machinery, mystery, nursery, celery, surgery, grocery, bribery) 1.
