SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  4. List all the items used in preparing liquid soap
  5. Outline the steps for preparing liquid soap

INTRODUCTION

The teacher revises the properties of the different types of soil and reasons for wearing clothes

The teacher explains the meaning of horticulture

Horticulture is the branch of plant agriculture dealing with garden crops, generally fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants.

 

She lists some flowering plants

1. Lily  

2. Lavender

3. Sunflower  

4. Daisy

5. Hibiscus  

6. Jasmine

7. Water Lily  

8. Orchid.

9. Rose

10. Azalea

 

She further explains the importance of horticulture

1.  Horticulture crops are a source of variability in farm produce and diets.

2.  They are a source of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, flavour, aroma, dietary fibres, etc.

3. They contain health benefiting compounds and medicines.  

4. These crops have aesthetic value and protect the environment.

2. soda ash

4. Sulphoric acid

Steps in preparing the soap

1. Wear your work apron and nose mask

2. wash all the bucket or bowls to be used

3. measure out water sufficient for the quantity of materials you bought

4. then begin mixing each of the ingredient in the order it was written in the materials. Mix until the mixture is smooth and has a consistent paste. Avoid air bubbles so as that it won’t be lumpy.

5. pour into bottles or containers and use for domestic purposes
