SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to

  • Explain the components of body movements in dance
  • State express concept of time, space and mood
  • State how to respond appropriately to rhythm, tempo of the music

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES: Identification, explanation, playway method, questions and answers, demonstration

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: The teacher uses- Audio disc, Record player, Recorded music, VCD

STEP 1

INTRODUCTION OF THE TOPIC

The Teacher defines dance as the movement of all the part of the body- our arms, legs, chest, waist and our head as well

She explains that to dance well, we need space, time and force(mood)

DEMONSTRATION

The Teacher using an audio recorder teaches the pupils how to the rhythm, tempo and mood of music at the appropriate time, space and mood

The teacher writes on the board while the pupils copy the note

NOTE

Space- This refer to the movement of the dancers through physical space ( sideways, forwards, backwards or diagonally)

Time- This refer to the movement of dancers through time with respect to music, tempo, meter, or rhythm

Force- This refer to the movement of dance through the amount of efforts exerted in moving the parts of the body.

EVALUATION:1)Explain what you understand by dance

2)State how to response appropriately to rhythm, tempo of the music
