  5. Identify dangerous places in the neighbourhood
  6. Identify dangerous people in the society.

Instructional materials: charts showing functions of power, a physical map of Nigeria, picture chart showing examples of nation’s of the world, a chart showing dangerous places.

Introduction

The teacher revises the previous topics and introduces the separation of power.

She explains that separation of power state that power must be separated between all arms of government so that any of the three arms does not necessary becomes more powerful than the other.

She explain that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. She explains the separation of power and functions among the three arms of government

1. Legislative arm of government- is responsible for making laws. They pass out bills to the president, when the bills are signed, they become law.

2. Executive arm of government- is responsible for implementation or execution of laws that are made by the legislative arm of government.

3. Judiciary arm of government-this arm States meaning or more interpretation or clarification to the laws that are made collectively by the legislative arm of government.

She further explains how to promote co-operation between the states and local government

1. Both the local and state governments make or formulate laws and policies that would make it easier for them to govern the people.

Some places in our community are dangerous because people with criminal behaviors live in those places. Dangerous places and people need to be avoided.

Dangerous people are people that are threat to other people life and prosperity. They cause serious harm to those within and around them.
