  5. List the steps in caring for clothes

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS: Charts showing different articles of clothing, pictures of people of various profession in uniforms, real objects e.g hangers, pegs, soaps, pressing iron, etc, needle, thread

These include

1. Bush fallowing

2. using compost, manure, crop residues, fertilizer trees  

3. intercropping legumes with cereals 4. crop rotation

5. ensuring permanent cover for the soil

1. Soil fertility supports plant growth and great crop yield.

2. Having healthy soil allows farmers to deliver the green, growing vegetables and plants everyone will love and enjoy

The teacher explains the meaning of Clothing and lists the various types of personal clothing

 

Clothing is the articles that are worn on the body to protect and beautify the body. It could be dresses, shirts, blouse, trousers, wrappers etc. Others are shoes, hand bags, jewellery, make-up, and accessories.

 

She highlights reasons why we should care for clothes

 

1. Clothes not only cover our body but also improves our personality.

2. Dirty clothes carry many germs and bacteria which can cause infection in our bodies.

3. Dirty clothes make us upset and unhealthy.

4. Caring for clothes improves its life span and durability

 

She then outlines the steps to take in caring for the clothes

1. Sort your clothes before washing them

2. Read the care labels.

3. Treat stains right away.

4. Launder T-shirts in cold water.

5. Wash jeans infrequently and inside-out.

6. Hand-wash delicate clothes in cool water and let them air-dry.

7. Clean delicate fabrics carefully so they don’t get ruined.

8. Press or air-dry dress shirts after washing them.

 

9. Avoid overloading the dryer

10. Iron specific fabrics at their recommended temperatures.

11.  Hang up your clothing with wooden and padded hangers.

12. Stick with plastic for long-term storage.

13. Mend your clothes as needed.

14. Clean your jewelry gently.

15. Clean and store your shoes properly.
